Radiolab recently did a story about quicksand. In it, the question is asked, “What happened to quicksand?” It’s a good question, because when I was a kid, I’m was pretty sure that quicksand was something I’d have to deal with as an adult fairly regularly. So far, not a single time have I, or anyone I’ve known, been trapped or killed by quicksand. I also was pretty sure that I’d be stopping-dropping-and-rolling regularly too. School put a lot of emphasis on that activity. Haven’t used that training once. I also thought I’d be car jacked. Remember when that was going on?
Or that I wouldn’t be able to go outside when it’s raining because of acid rain.
And, the classic, Africanized bees. I haven’t been attacked by those yet either.
