This is a bit of old news, but the FCC is doing something that will really help people get online in this country. Having a computer can be expensive, however the cost of a computer that can connect to the Internet comes down every year. The not-so-obvious cost is the cost of getting that machine connected to the Internet. Even a smart phone is going to run a minimum of about $30 a month for access to the Internet, and that’s going to come with a pittance of measured data usage.
Now that the FCC is adding a subsidy for low income households for Internet access will take some of that pressure off. It’s 2016 and having access to the Internet is mandatory for participating in modern American life.
So, this is good news.
