On many occasions, I have given voice my dislike of people telling me their dreams. The exceptions are if the story of the dream is two or less sentences or the dream is, shall we say, rated NC-17, which is typically kept brief due to the frequently embarrassing content.

The YouTube channel Charisma on Command put out a terrific animated video: 9 Mistakes That Kill Your Charisma. One of the examples of things not to do: talk about your dreams.

The YouTube channel The School of Life has a video titled How to Recount Your Dreams, which is a pretty decent primer on how to not tell a story, regardless if it’s about a dream or not. I’ll sum it up for you: most of the details of your dream (or your story about your day) are impossible to be relevant to people who didn’t experience it, so cut that stuff out.
